Insurance Valuer and Appraiser
Barrett Corp & Harrington Ltd specialise in producing residential and commercial reinstatement cost assessments for insurance purposes.
Due to continued development, we are seeking a further graduate to manage a caseload of risk surveys and reinstatement cost assessments (RCAs) for insurance purposes for domestic properties. The risk survey element includes an assessment of security and fire protection as well as an informal discussion around contents values at risk. There is also the opportunity for the caseload to include RCAs of blocks of flats and commercial buildings as the role develops.
Working from home, the role will involve visiting, measuring, calculating, describing and reporting, mainly in England, particularly but not necessarily in the south east region.
Training and a competitive package will be provided.
Ideally the successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of building construction and the estimating methodology to be used in preparing reinstatement cost assessments. Practical experience or knowledge of working with historic/listing buildings would be seen as an advantage.
Excellent technical including estimating and IT skills are a prerequisite.
Visiting and working with clients, this is a highly visible role and applicants will need to demonstrate a smart and professional appearance, a willingness to travel; and the ability to work independently, under pressure and to deliver on time.
Other requirements include the facility to work from home, a clean driving license and car ownership.

At least a BSc Hons (2:1) Degree in Quantity or Building Surveying or another relevant degree. Previous successful candidates have held academic qualifications in History of Architecture and Fine Arts Valuation.
